In Memory Of
Richard E. "Rick" Gove
1949 - 2017
After graduation, Rick enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve and served his country honorably for 6 years. Rick married Susan O'Neil, April 24, 1971 and together they shared 46 loving years of marriage.
Rick grew up working on his family farm in Lena, and continued to work the farm until 1984. He spent 22 years working at Cruisers, Inc. in Oconto. He also worked at Beck’s Quality Cabinets and Brown County Cabinets for many years. He spent the last several years working at Town and Country Stables.
Rick was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed sharing this love with his grandkids. He loved to putz around with stuff and could fix anything. He helped others whenever he could. He will be remembered as a quiet man with a quick wit and sense of humor. First and foremost, Rick was a loving and selfless husband and a proud father, grandpa and great-grandpa.
Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Sue; 3 children: John (Lindsay) Gove, Charles "Chuck" (Brenda) Gove, and Stephanie (James Peterson) Gove; grandchildren: Emily (Jesse), Merissa, Alec, Kiley, Belle, Hanna, Jocelyn, and Raelynn; 1 great-grandchild, Maci (and one on the way); brothers and sisters: Roy (Violet) Gove, Mary Jane Melberg, and Alvina (Robert) Johnson; brother-in-law, Roland Lemke; his father-in-law, John R. O’Neil; his sister-in-law, Carol (Cletus) Courchaine; his brothers-in-law, John (Corrine) O’Neil, and Todd O’Neil; and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ida May Lemke; nephew, Michael Lemke; mother-in-law, Donna O’Neil; and brothers-in-law, Tom Melberg, and Melvin O’Neil.
A special thank you to the De Pere Fire & Rescue and Bellin Emergency staff for all of their efforts on trying to keep Rick with us.
Visitation will be held at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay), Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 4 to 6 PM.
