Shirley Gebhard, 80, Green Bay, died peacefully at home on Friday, October 24, 2014.

She was born in Green Bay on September 7, 1934, to Anna (Boerschinger) and Anton Baumgart.

She graduated from St. Phillip the Apostle Elementary School in 1947, then from St. Joseph Academy in 1951.

Shirley married Donald Ferrier in 1953; they were married for forty-two years. Later widowed, she married Gerald Gebhard in 1998 until his recent passing.

Shirley worked in the offices of Schreiber Cheese and Borden Company. Then she was a homemaker for 17 years, raising her family. Shirley and Donald Ferrier were charter members of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, where Shirley taught religious education for more than a decade. Later, she was employed at Shopko’s corporate offices for 20 years before retiring in 1994. Shirley treasured spending several winters in Sun City, Arizona. Shirley enjoyed playing Bridge and Schopskopf, traveling and collecting roosters. She was cookie chairperson for Girl Scouts and volunteered at concessions for the Ashwaubenon High School Band fundraisers. She loved to cook and bake for her family. Other interests, included going to the theater, art, and taking sketching and story writing classes.

Surviving are her six children: Sharon (Stephen) Fountaine, Fort Wayne, IN; Gary (Laura) Ferrier, Fayetteville, AR; Gail (Scott) Selby, DePere, WI; Mark (Andrea) Ferrier, West Bend, WI; Brian Ferrier, Orlando, FL; and Amy Ferrier, Milwaukee, WI; her 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She also had four step-children: Richard (Vicky) Gebhard; Vicki (Dann) Geronimi; Gregg (Cathy) Gebhard; Kay (Reto) Frei; as well as 5 step-grandchildren and 9 step-great-grandchildren.

Shirley is further survived by her siblings and their spouses; Gen Baumgart, Kenneth (Marcie) Baumgart, Donald Baumgart, and Janice Baumgart. Surviving in-laws are: Henry Ferrier, Martin Ferrier, Ira (Judy) Ferrier, Lorraine Malcore, Walter (Donna) Ferrier, Jean Ann (Harvey) Parsons, Karlene Gebhard, Sr. Mary Frances Gebhard, Kathy (Tom) Tulenko.

Shirley is preceded in death by her first husband, Don Ferrier, as well as by her second husband, Jerry Gebhard; brothers, Anthony and Robert Baumgart; sisters-in-law: Marge Baumgart, Eloise Baumgart, and Jane Ferrier; brothers in-law: Arnold Ferrier, Robert Malcore , and Jim Gebhard.

Friends may call on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 9:30 AM for a visitation until the time of the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Ln.
