Vinny Hanson
1957 - 2015

Vincent “Vinny” C. Hanson, age 57, of Green Bay (formerly of Wausaukee), passed away May 18, 2015 at home with his family and friends by his side, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 20, 1957 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, son of the late Harold and Mary (Walsh) Hanson.

Vincent worked for Imperial Supplies and formerly for Phillips Getschow, both in Green Bay. Vinny was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church. Church was a big part of his life and he enjoyed Sundays and parking cars for his church for Packer games.

Even though he was an avid Packer fan, his New England hometown sports teams came first. His quick wit kept everyone laughing and having fun right up until the end. Vinny’s family and friends came first in his heart; spending every minute he could with them. His daughters, Jessica and Jaime were his life and time spent with them was most precious to him. He loved music; both listening to classic rock and singing in the band “Transparent Freedom” as a teenager.

Vincent is survived by his daughters, Jessica and Jaime Hanson of Kansas; his sisters, Linda Hanson of Rhode Island and Sharon (Paul) Carrier of Florida; great friends, Ozzie and Peggy Schroeder and their family, that are like family; a niece, Allison DeMello and family in MA; extended family in Wausaukee; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his cousin, Jimmy Hanson.

Friends and relatives may call at Bethany United Methodist Church (1110 Echo Lane, Green Bay), Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 4 to 6:45 PM. A funeral service will follow at 7 PM.

Vincent’s loved volunteering at the NEW Homeless Shelter. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be donated to the shelter in his honor.

Vinny’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Ian and Kristen Bednarz , Tanya Sdun and to the Aurora Hospice nurses for exceptional care of Vinny during his illness as well as everyone that has helped along the way during his courageous battle.
