Gilbert R. Anderson
1935 - 2017

Gilbert Robert Anderson , age 82, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2017 after a heroic journey with Lewy Body Dementia. Born July 24, 1935 in Egg Harbor, WI. Son to the late Merton and Emma (Lautenbach) Anderson.

Gilbert courageously served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company (AT&T) in 1992 as a master mechanic. Gil was a self-made man who worked in and owned cherry and apple orchards alongside his family and renovated a few homes as a hobby and side-work. Gil loved working on cars, going to car shows and attending country music festivals with his family and friends. He enjoyed visiting relatives and family. He excelled in snowmobile racing in the 70's along with our mother, filling our home with many first place trophies. Gil loved nature and enjoyed the outdoors, whether he was at his lake home on Moonlight Bay, sitting around a campfire with family, picking morel mushrooms in Door County or walking the beaches of Gulf Shores Alabama and the Fox River Trail. For many years he enjoyed deer hunting with his sons, brothers and sisters. He also enjoyed watching Halley's Comet with his sons, Greg and Robb. Gilbert was a calm spirit and was always there to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors. He had a hard work ethic, enjoyed his retirement and the wonderful relationships he fostered with family and friends.

Gilbert is survived by his son Gregory (Linda) Anderson, Harshaw WI; daughter Carrie (Gary) DeGreef, Green Bay, WI; and son Robert Anderson, Harshaw WI.

Proud and loving grandfather of four beautiful granddaughters, April Anderson, Casey (Spencer) Carbery, Kendal (Olav) Svendsen and Isabella Anderson and a step-grandson Justin Sweeney, and two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Vivian Carbery.

He is survived by his brothers, George Anderson, Lawrence (Carolyn) Anderson, and Louis (Candy) Anderson; sisters Barbara Brauer and Donna (Curt) Wassen and many nieces and nephews.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his six siblings, John Anderson, Harry Anderson, Marie Smith, Viola Carlson, Elmer Anderson and Selma Torbeck. Also brothers-in-law, Merle Smith, Harold Carlson, Toby Torbeck, Pat Champeau, Merlin Brauer and sisters-in-law, Lucile Anderson, Shirley Anderson and Janet Anderson, nephews Peter Anderson and Kelly Brauer.
