Melvin "Pierre" Peterson
1920 - 2017

Melvin A. "Pierre" Peterson, age 96, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 2, 1920 in New Denmark, WI, son of the late Herman and Tillie (Berman) Peterson.

Melvin married Joyce Lange, March 22, 1945. He enlisted in the US Army and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1946.

Always known as Pierre, Melvin was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Pierre loved being up north by Mark, watching all of the animals at the feeders. He was a lifelong member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Denmark.

Pierre was always ready to help anyone in need. He was a very loving and kind father and grandfather and a wonderful inspiration to his family and friends in everything he did.

Melvin is survived by 3 sons: Gary (special friend, Darlene), Mark (the late Kay) and Todd (Janice) Peterson; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dale (Pat) Peterson and 2 sisters, Carol (Francis) Rabas and Rosie (Ken) Glover. He is further survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many loving friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; 2 sisters, Elsa and Hazel; 2 brothers, Carl and Clyde; daughter-in-law, Vicki Peterson and 3 brothers-in-law: Leroy Lange, Arnold Henningson and Wilbur Samorske.

Visitation will be held at OUR SAVIOR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH (435 Wisconsin Ave., Denmark, WI), Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 9 to 11AM. A funeral service will follow at 11AM with full military honored rendered at the conclusion of the service.

We would like to thank the staffs of Bay Harbor Assisted Living and Heartland Hospice for all of their care of Pierre and the family.
