Richard A. "Dick" Baumgartner
1928 - 2018

Richard "Dick" Baumgartner, age 90, of Allouez, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018.

He was born on June 29, 1928, in Green Bay to the late Martin & Leona (Luethjohan) Baumgartner.

Dick attended Cathedral Grade School and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1946.

He married Gladys Marie Charles on October 8, 1949, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Dick and "Glady" shared 64 wonderful years together until her death on February 26, 2014.

As a teenager, Dick cut lawn for Curley Lambeau at his home on the bay and had a paper route in the area. He was a part-time bartender for his parents, "Marty's Bar" and his sister Sue, "Flip Inn". He worked full-time as a baker for Mrs. Karl's (Cobb's) and Red Owl Bakeries. Upon their closing, he worked in maintenance for Beatrice Foods (Pauly Cheese), where he retired.

He was an usher for St. Matthew's Parish and St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. Upon retiring, he sang with the Baylander Barbershop Chorus for 20 years. He was a member of Green Bay Men's Club, with which he and Gladys enjoyed many trips. They also enjoyed several years with their camping and square dancing clubs, as well as winter vacations in Florida.

Dick was a great father and appreciated the simple things in life. He enjoyed swimming with his children, family picnics and summer vacations in Lakewood, WI. He was an avid baker at home, making Christmas candy, delicious desserts, especially his famous pies. Dick kept active, often riding his bike or walking in their neighborhood or mall. He loved animals, especially the neighbor's cat, Ozzie. Dick will forever be remembered as a warm, caring, and dedicated family man with a natural ability to connect with people.
