She was born on April 28, 1938, in Green Bay to the late Roman "Jake" & Jane "Jenny" (Zielinski) Smith.
Karen was a graduate from Green Bay West High School. After graduation, she moved to New York City. She then moved back to Green Bay and worked at the Green Bay Press-Gazette.
She loved to travel, spending time with her family and friends, she was a Packer Season Ticket Holder, fishing, weekend visits to the cottage, gardening and Neil Diamond when she was not watching the Hallmark Channel. Karen was a devote Catholic and attended Mass regular.
Survivors include her two sons, Gregory (LouAnn) Joachim and William (Valinda) Joachim; grandchildren, Nicole (James), Jacob, Jeremy, Daniel (Stacy), Roylee, Clayton; six great-grandchildren; brother, Gary (Diane) Smith; six nieces and nephews; special friends, Mike M., Kathy C., Jo O., and Rosalie C.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ed Peot; brother, Richard (Vicki) Smith.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm on Friday, July 27, 2018, at Allouez Catholic Mausoleum, 2121 Riverside Drive, Green Bay. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm. Entombment will be at the mausoleum.
The family would like to thank the staff of Heartland Hospice and Lakeland Services for their care of Karen. And a special thank you to Fr. Bob Rhyner for the prayers and bringing communion over the years.
