Violet E. (Meisel) Parish, age 87, was born to Eternal life on Monday, February 23, 2015. She was surrounded by her family.

Violet was born in Green Bay on August 21, 1927, a daughter of the late Earl and Josie (Stellmacher) Meisel. She was a 1945 graduate of ¬West High School and also attended the Chicago Art Institute. Violet was married to James G. Parish on October 5, 1947 and together they raised two children.

Violet was a lover of art and music, she was an avid reader and was also a Civil War enthusiast. In earlier years, Violet attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Her greatest love however was for her family and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed.

Violet leaves her husband, James of over 67 years, her son Jim (Jill) Parish and her daughter Tracy (John) Smits. She leaves behind her grandchildren Jeremy, Johnny and Robby and her sisters Virginia Markham of Phoenix, AZ and Ione Meisel of New York City. She is further survived by her nieces Patsy and Paula, her nephews Jeff, Dennis, Jack and Gary and her sister-in-law Viola Parish, other relatives and friends.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law Gerald and his wife Maybelle “Pinky” Parish.

Friends and relatives may call on the family on Thursday, February 26th, 2015 from 5 to 7 PM at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay. A funeral service will follow at 7 PM. Her final resting place will be in Nicolet Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Friday, February 27th.

The family sends special thanks to Ashley, Danielle and especially Sarah for their exceptional care of Violet while she was at home and also to the staff of Grancare Nursing Home for their care over the last 3 months. And finally, Violet’s children extend much gratitude to James, Violet’s loving husband for his unwavering care and love of their mother over the years.

“Mom, we know you are watching over us and we know you are an angel now!”
