Ray Kiefer Jr. passed away on Monday, October 6th, 2014, at the age of 85.

Born the second of seven children to Ray Sr. and Regina (Schauer) Kiefer, he was graduated from Central Catholic High School and St. Norbert College.

Following graduation he was commissioned a Lieutenant in the US Army and served in the Korean War. After his discharge he joined his brother and two cousins in the family business, Schauer & Schumacher, Inc. The business was founded by his grandfather Peter Schauer.

While the others were funeral directors, Ray managed and operated the furniture store. He retired in 1990.

In 1956 he married Nancy Kohlbeck at St. Francis Xavier Church. They raised three children – Dr. Ray (Jacquie) Kiefer III, Jennifer (Mark) Swoboda, and Eric (Linda) Kiefer. There are ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Ray was active in Green Bay Rotary Club. He was president of Wisconsin Retail Furniture Association and Mid-West Regional Furniture Association. For years he was a daily swimmer at the downtown Green Bay YMCA. He is a member of the Green Bay Country Club.

He is further survived by his brother, John (Jean), his sisters Jean Fiedler, Kathryn Peot, and Ann (Roger) Dornburg. His brother, Peter and wife Marianne and brother, Rev. David preceded him in death. His brothers-in-law, Robert Fielder and Robert Peot also preceded him. Many nieces and nephews and his extended family the Schumacher cousins survive.

Family will greet friends at 10:00am until 11:00am Friday, October 10th at Resurrection Catholic Church in Allouez. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00am on Friday. Burial will be in the Allouez Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross, 3110 Nicolet Dr, Green Bay, WI 54311
