James was born on February 26, 1952 in Green Bay, WI, son of the late Sheldon and Gladys (VanLanen) Dalton. He was employed for 32 years with Pioneer Metal Finishing. He loved football and was an avid Packers and Badgers fan, and had an interest in basketball and baseball. James coached for his son's baseball team when he was younger. In his spare time he enjoyed listening to country music and loved going to the Country USA Festival. Mostly he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
His memory will live on with his wife Darlene of Green Bay and five children: Dan Nelson of Green Bay, Jeff Nelson of Green Bay, James Dalton Jr. of Medford, WI, Jason (Nicole) Dalton of Green Bay, and Andy (Faith Price) Dalton of De Pere. He also leaves his siblings: Marian Cummings of MN, Nancy (Elroy) Phillips of Ocala, FL, Dorothy Lepp of Green Bay, John (Debra) Dalton of Green Bay, and Terry (Lisa) Dalton of Suamico. James leaves 5 beloved grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers: Ronnie VanLanen and Robert Dalton.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26th from 4 - 7 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay and will resume on Friday, May 27th from 10 - 11 AM at St. Philip the Apostle Church, Victoria Street, Green Bay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM in the Sanctuary. Interment will be private.
