After High School, Ron earned his bachelor's degree from Northern Illinois University in 1967. Ron enlisted in the US Army in 1968 and served his country courageously until his honorable discharge in 1972. Ron married Linda Hochwalt at the Baha'i House of Worship, Wilmette, IL, August 31,1968 and together they shared 47 loving years of marriage and raised 3 children. He was a man of strong faith and will be buried in accordance with the Baha'i traditions.
Ron worked for 25 years as a CNC Programmer for Ingersoll Machine and Tool and retired from EnChem where he was employed for 10 years.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Linda, 2 sons, Shawn Somerhalder and Michael (Abbe) Somerhalder; daughter, Natasha (SGT Darrell) Freeman; 5 grandchildren: Olivia and Paige Somerhalder, Jada Somerhalder and Michael and Kimberly Freeman; brother, Myrv (Holly) Somerhalder; brother-in-law Tom Hawkins and sister-in-law, Susan (Michael) Finan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lynda Hawkins.
Please join the family for a memorial service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, WI), Saturday, May 14, 2016. Services will begin promptly at 1:30 PM followed by a sharing of memories and light refreshments. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at 4 PM.
