Karen Mulrine
1933 - 2018

Karen Mulrine, age 84, of Green Bay, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018. She was born July 26, 1933 in Stanley, WI, daughter of the late Bernard and Anita Roe.

Karen spoke very warmly about growing up in Stanley as part of a large family and her closeness with her cousins and other extended family. When she was in 8th grade, the family relocated to Rice Lake, where she graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1951 with a class of friends that she remained close with throughout her adult life. She continued her education at St. Olaf College, where she attended with over 100 of her cousins, and earned her Bachelor's Degree in English. After graduation from college, she moved to Milwaukee where she worked as a copywriter and met her future husband. Four months after meeting, Karen married Peter Mulrine and they shared almost 50 years of marriage and were blessed with 2 children before he passed away in 2005.

Karen loved summers at Lake Ripley with her family and friends. Karen and Pete had an opportunity to retire early and travel extensively before he passed away. They even were able to treat their entire family to an unforgettable trip to Disney World. Karen was a faithful and active member of Grace Lutheran Church for nearly 50 years. She had a wry sense of humor that kept her family on their toes. She was a very thoughtful and generous woman, especially when it came to her grandchildren. Karen was a determined woman who kept her spunk and fight until the end.

Karen is survived by her 2 children, Corey (Jim) Dorrance and Shannon (Michelle) Mulrine; 5 grandchildren: Molly (Peter) Lawrence, Emma (Doug) Krist, JD (Christina Spiewak) Dorrance, Kevin Mulrine and Lauren (Evan Bessette) Mulrine; 3 great-grandchildren (and one on the way): Patrick, Thomas and Ephraim and a sister-in-law, Carol Roe.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Dean Roe and her sister, Pat (Tom) Brown.

Visitation will be held at Grace Lutheran Church (321 S. Madison St., Green Bay), Friday, May 18, 2018 from 1 to 2 PM. A funeral service will follow at 2 PM with Pastor Julie Wrubbel-Lange officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to Grace Lutheran Church or Northern Star Theatre Company, Rice Lake in Karen's name are appreciated.

Karen's family would like to thank the ER and ICU doctors and nurses at St. Vincent Hospital for their loving care as well as Pastor Julie for her prayers and support.
