He was born on October 23, 1963, in Green Bay to Gereon & Emily Rhodes.
J.P. graduated from Green Bay Preble High School in 1982. He began working at the Green Bay Metropolitan Sewer Department at the age of 15 in the grounds crew and upon graduating from UWGB with a degree in accounting, became the financial investor for GB Metro. He was a fun loving, sweet guy, who owned Maloney's Pub on Washington Street for 18 years and made many dear friends throughout this time. He was a good friend to all and especially enjoyed golfing in his free time. J.P. was an avid outdoorsman, specifically duck and goose hunting, with his beloved dogs, Hannah, Chelsea and Charlie. He also was part owner of Canterbury Tails Pet Care with his sister and family, where he enjoyed caring for the animals and fraternizing with the customers. He later also ventured into lawn care & snow removal business.
Survivors include his parents, Gereon & Emily Rhodes; sister, Lynn (Dezy) Hajos; nephew, Vinny Hajos; niece, Rylee Hajos.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, William & Estella VanEgeren and Vida Zellner.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 6:30 pm on Friday, December 29, 2017, Newcomer-Green Bay Chapel, 340 S. Monroe Ave, Green Bay, with a prayer service at 6:30 pm. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at 10:30 am at St. Matthew Parish, 130, St. Matthew Street, Green Bay.
