Rory attended Zion Benton High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1977. After the military, he traveled and lived in many places. Rory held various occupations throughout his life. In September of 1994 he met the love of his life, his wife, Lora. They resided in Cleveland, TN, for a number of years. Rory enjoyed working on cars, cooking and listening to all genres of music. His main purpose on this earth was to help others, no matter what the circumstances were. He was blessed with a heart of gold in which so many people had the opportunity to experience his larger-than-life personality and his intelligent persona.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 21 years, Lora Foster; four children, Devon, Deandre, Mariah and Monique; his sister, Vera Foster (Montel) and her children, Robert, Lavelle, Tyrell and Marcus Johnson; brother, Hertel “Butch” Foster (Larissa); five grandchildren, Kathan Allen West of Sweetwater, TN, Acaia Jade Scruggs of Knoxville, TN, Acelynn Michelle Riley of Charlotte, NC, Devon Johnson, Jr., Alijah Johnson of Kimberly, WI. He also leaves cherished memories to his cousins, Virgil Bates, Anthony Bates, Virginia Bates, Georgia Bates, Martha Bates, Patrick Bates, Jermaine and Robert Bates, who he grew up with in Zion, IL; three sisters-in-law, Donnetta King and her child, Debrahia King, Devonna King and her son, Jared King, and Bernice White and her son, Aaron; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, close relatives and dear friends.
