Donald E. Christensen, 89, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Hall) Christensen, passed away on May 19, 2017, at Maple Ridge Nursing Home in Green Bay.

Donald was born on July 17, 1927 in Pender, Nebraska, son of the late Paul and Hilda (Sievers) Chistensen. He was a graduate of Pender, NE High School and was a proud veteran of the Navy, having served honorably near the end of World War II. Though he would have stops along his career path at Hunts Wessons Foods and IDS Property-Casualty Insurance , Don's first job was as a Salesman at Mars Candy Company. After years of hard work, he finally retired in 1993.

Donald was a member of the American Legion, University of Nebraska Alumni Association (Class of 1953), and was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. In his spare time and 25+ years of retirement, Don enjoyed golfing, cooking, drinking coffee at Bay Family Restaurant, playing cribbage at Fuzzy Thurston's Sports Bar, watching old movies and musicals, belting out a tune for his community, sitting on his patio watching critters, spending time with neighbors, and reminiscing about the good old days.

Donald is survived by his Son, Lewis Christensen, Grandsons, Donnie Christensen and Francis Christensen, Sisters, Pauline Hoffman, and Alverna Harstick. Nieces, nephews, other family, and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his Wife, Phyllis , Brother, George, and Sister, Rose Ann.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 9:00-10:45 am at the Newcomer Funeral Home - Green Bay Chapel, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Don will be layed to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, Green Bay. Memorial contributions may be directed to the University of Nebraska and/or the Nebraska Community Foundation- Pender, NE.
