Jean Toonen, 89, Lakewood, formerly of Green Bay passed away peacefully Tuesday March 14,
2017 surrounded by family. She was born November 21,1927 in Green Bay to the late Elmer
and Marjorie (Rickert) Krueger. On September 10,1949 she married Roland Toonen, who
preceded her in death on July 23, 1995. Together they owned and operated Valley Ace
Hardware for many years.

She is survived by her children John (Gail) Toonen, Pulaski, Jim Toonen, Saukville, Joe Toonen,
Florida, Kathleen (Carl) Dryer, Denis (Toni) Toonen, and Tom Toonen (Lisa DuPuis) all of Green
Bay; her grandchildren, Chris (Mollie), Jeff, McKenna, Kyle (Kristal), Amanda, Kali, and Ben;
step-grandchildren, Jamie (Lisa), and Tay (Jenny). She is further survived by her greatgrandchildren
Marcie, Roland, Madysen, Carl, Aaron, step-great-grandchildren Cody, Zack,
Tyler, Riley, Quentin, Spencer, Adam, and step-great-great-grandchild Kaden. She is also
survived by her brother James (Jerry) Krueger, special friend and caregiver Lisa Fredenburgh,
and nieces and nephews.

Fond memories of learning to fish, swim, and boat rides, Grandma GiGi refilling her candy dish
for their next visit, and cozy carpet everywhere remain with her great-grandchildren. Stories of
visits from her Culligan delivery man, Mark, whom she looked forward to seeing and getting a
snack from her goodie basket.

Jean will be missed by many as her door was always open to welcome guests for good
conversation and a game of cribbage!

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 17, 2017, at Fort Howard Memorial Park Mausoleum, 1350 N. Military Ave., Green Bay. Entombment to follow.
