Janet M. Vanden Langenberg, age 73, of Howard, passed away at her home, Wednesday, March 8, 2017, surrounded by her loving family following her courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 19, 1943 in Green Bay, daughter of the late William and Veronica (Wesoloski) Johnson and was a graduate of Pulaski High School.

Janet married Merlyn Vanden Langenberg, August 21, 1965 at SS. Edward & Isidore Parish and together they shared 51 loving years of marriage and raised 4 children.

She was a loving homemaker while her kids were young, later she worked at Walmart and also on the rescue squad for the Village of Howard. She enjoyed sightseeing, vacationing with friends, playing cards, and spending time with her family, especially with her three grandchildren, the joys of her life. She was a self-taught artist who enjoyed oil painting nature scenes. Janet was the most kind hearted, selfless person with a welcoming smile, gentle spirit and strong faith to guide her through the tough times. She loved the simple joys in life including nature watching and family. Janet will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Janet is survived by her husband of 51 years, Merlyn; 2 sons, Scott (Deanna) and Tim (Sue) Vanden Langenberg; 3 grandchildren: Tasha, Maggie, and Adam; 3 sisters: Patsy Wilinski, Barb LoPata and Carolyn (Lee) Duchateau; sister-in-laws, Melda Johnson, Alice (Leonard) Zellner and Mary Vanden Langenberg.

She was preceded in death by her 2 daughters, Julie and Christine; her brother, Dick Johnson and 3 brother-in-laws, Eugene Wilinski, Don LoPata and Jerry Vanden Langenberg
